Volunteer Opportunities

Currently, our facilities are capable of housing approximately fifty people. Our facilities include ten toilets, eight showers, a dining hall with refrigerated storage space, a gymnasium, a computer lab with internet access, three telephone lines, a TV, bed linens, blankets, pillows, washers and dryers, pots and pans, silverware and dishware. Groups should bring their own bath towels and wash cloths. (Note: At times, groups may have to share facilities with other groups.)

  • Work Projects

Upon arrival, groups will be assigned a project(s) to be completed throughout their stay with Big Creek People in Action. The nature of the project will vary according to the skill level of the group, the size of the group, the needs of the community, and the weather. At times, groups may be asked to complete work projects to improve the facilities of Big Creek People In Action, which is located in an old elementary school undergoing continuous renovation. Typical work projects include painting homes, replacing floors, installing handicap ramps, and replacing bathrooms.

  • Rules and Responsibilities

Groups are responsible for maintaining the cleanliness of the facilities throughout their stay at BCPIA. This includes sweeping and mopping floors, doing the dishes, cleaning the bathrooms etc. In addition, groups are financially responsible for any damage incurred during their stay. BCPIA is a drug and alcohol free facility.
